2 Sherlock Holmes Mysteries – 2018 Fringe FESTIVAL

Vintage Fringers, John D. Huston ***** (Wooster Sauce) and Kenneth Brown *****(Anatolia Speaks) play everyone in two Sherlockian adventures, the world’s first, finest, sleuthing stories: Holmes, Watson, distressed damsels, perplexed police, scurrilous scoundrels. 75 years of stage-craft on dazzling display in sixty scintillating minutes. “Masters of the Fringe” (Colin MacLean)

In “The Adventure of the Red Circle”and “The Adventure of the Empty House” Sherlock Holmes quotes or misquotes from Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night: “Journeys end with lovers’ meeting”. The original is “journeys end in lovers meeting”. This has led Sherlockians, especially Christopher Morley, to deduce that the twelfth night of Christmas-January 6th- is the birthday of Sherlock Holmes. Another prominent Sherlockian, William S. Baring-Gould argued that because in The Valley of Fear Sherlock Holmes is cranky on January 7th, he must have been celebrating his birthday the night before and he was suffering from a hangover.
